A.J. Ryan Realty was established by A.J. Ryan Sr. and Genevieve M. Ryan. A.J. Ryan Sr. was president of the Hollywood Board of Realtors in 1931 and 1933. A.J. Ryan Sr. was very active in the Dania community serving as member and past president of Dania Chamber of Commerce. From 1928 to 1943 he served as City Commissioner for Dania. He called farming and cattle raising his hobby.

Genevieve M. Ryan was former president of the National American Legion. She was the first woman ever to receive Realtor of the Year for Florida in 1957. She received numerous awards for her involvement in the community of Dania. Mr. and Mrs. Ryan had three children and seventeen grandchildren.

Their grandson John M. Ryan has continued the family ownership of A.J. Ryan Realty and is the current broker.
